Why Fermented Tomato Seeds?
Our seeds are naturally fermented to ensure high germination rates, strong plants, and robust flavour.
Fermentation is a traditional process where tomato seeds are naturally soaked and left to ferment in tomato juicy for several days. This helps break down the seed’s gel-like coating, which can inhibit germination. It also ensures that the seeds are free of any mold or diseases, giving you healthy, viable seeds for your next planting season. Fermented seeds have the added benefit of being able to store longer, as the fermentation process naturally preserves them.

Why Choose Buniol Tomatoes?
At Buniol Tomatoes, we’re passionate about preserving the rich, authentic taste of heirloom tomatoes, and our fermenting process ensures that each seed carries the potential for a bountiful harvest. Our small, family-run business is committed to sustainable gardening practices, and we’re excited to share the fruits of our labour with you. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting out, our premium tomato seeds will bring the flavour and beauty of heirloom tomatoes to your garden.

Sustainable & Heirloom
Our tomato seeds are sustainably harvested from our own homegrown heirloom tomatoes. We prioritise organic practices, so you can be sure you’re getting non-GMO, untreated seeds that are kind to the environment and kind to your garden. Every seed is a part of our family’s legacy—grown, fermented, and packed with care.

Tomato Seed Sowing Guide
Planting your heirloom tomato seeds is simple and rewarding. Here’s a quick guide to get you started:
When to Sow: Start tomato seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost date in your area. For most regions, this is typically in early spring.
Soil: Use a light, well-draining seed-starting mix. A pH of 6.0-6.8 is ideal.
Sowing: Place seeds about 0.5 cm deep in small pots or trays. Water gently.
Light: Keep the seeds in a warm location (around 21°C) with bright, indirect light. Once the seeds have germinated, they’ll need more direct light to grow strong.
Transplanting: When seedlings have developed 2-3 sets of leaves, transplant them into larger pots. Gradually acclimate them to outdoor conditions by hardening off for 7-10 days before planting them in your garden.
